Fine location but hotel needs updating and is not worth 4 stars at present. Room decor/TV and breakfast were particular disappointments.
Top Tip
Go to Jurmala beach for a change and to the Skyline Bar at the Reval Hotel for the views and decent prices. If you like Indian food, the Indian Raja is great. Try Bon Vivant for Belgian beer and food, also very friendly staff.

room was clean and spacious but the bathroom was ancient. no shower only a hose that fitted over the taps.
Top Tip
lot of good restaurants and bars round old town. for a new experience try a meal at the lido short taxi drive from centre where all locals go for nights out. well worth it

No tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms.
Under the beds etc had not been cleaned for years - large balls of fibre/dust.
Any asthma sufferer would have had problems. Room rather cold with no heat controls.

fantastic location, nice buffet breakfast, but quite overpriced for the room - rooms old dated decor and cold. otherwise the hotel is highly recommended

go to macaroni restaurant at the side of the galleria shopping complex, fantastic food! do not buy the riga travel card, everything is within walking distance. bring a warm coat in autumn and winter! went to Sigulda for the day which is just 1 hour train ride out of riga, beautiful scenery, old castle ruins and caves etc but go in the snow for skiing/mountain sliding etc.
