The Bergs Hotel is undoubtedly one of the finest hotels in Latvia. The hotel enjoys an international reputation and justifiably so. The hotel is housed in a historical building dating back to the 1890's. The Berg family were aware of the swelling population in Riga's old town and sought to create a New Town outside the old walls of the city. They formed a lively commercial area that is now known as Bergs Bazaar. Following an unfortunate period of neglect during the Communist Era, Bergs Bazaar has witnessed a renaissance and the Bergs Hotel has been transformed into a wonderful 5-Star property. Sidney-based architecture firm Peddle, Thorpe & Walker carried out the restoration and design of the hotel in an Art Nouveau inspired style. Simple colour tones of black and white create a contemporary yet sophisticated atmosphere. The restaurant is rated as one of the finest gourmet restaurants in Riga and the hotel also offers a beautiful covered terrace on the top of the building and a well equipped gym.
